The future of origin
19 September @ 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm
The subject of the origin of goods traded internationally has perhaps never had a higher profile since the first certificate was issued 118 years ago. For the average business, the landscape is complex– preferential and non-preferential, custom and practice, FTAs and AEOs, and self-certification…the list of possibilities in evidencing origin is a long one. One thing does remain constant: that is the need for partnerships between Customs and chambers in delivering trade facilitation solutions, particularly for the benefit of SMEs who play such a vital role in world trade. How can chambers remain relevant and provide business and Customs with the solutions for better trade today and tomorrow?
This workshop will discuss:
- the need for an independent authority for CO’s
- Chamber role for the assessment of origin in the future
- how chambers can remain relevant and provide business and Customs with solutions for better trade today and tomorrow
- how blockchain technology could serve as a viable solution to many aspects of Global Trade in the future
